The Llewellyn Dobe
Llewellyn began in Canada as a result of a love for the magnificent
Dobermann Pinscher |
|
It was the 60's, when hip dysplasia, timidity, Von
Willebrand, wobblers and cardiomyopathy were foreign words to the
Dobe world.
|
 |
It was before the skyrocketing popularity of the breed with its back yard
breeders and fast-buck mills introduced instability of temperament and
health.
It was before the clamour for "Champion" prodigy filled the gene pool
with that of the reigning "beauty contest" winners, while other dogs were
not allowed to pass on their potentially healthier, more stable traits
.
The "old man" and his Working Dobes circa 1975
Back then, we established several unrelated lines, which
allowed us to avoid introducing questionable blood lines to our kennel.
We successfully retained the steady temperament and solid body of the "old
time" working Dobe.
